About Meridian
A single case team, so grief isn’t complicated by logistics.
Repatriating someone across a border touches consulates, customs authorities, funeral homes, translators, and carriers — often in two countries and two languages at once. Meridian exists to hold all of that together, so a family only has to make one call.
What we believe
“A family arranging to bring someone home should need one phone call — not twelve.”
That’s the problem Meridian was built to solve. On a typical international case, a family or funeral home would otherwise need to contact a consulate, a customs broker, a translator, a receiving mortuary, an airline’s cargo desk, and an insurer — separately, in the middle of an already difficult week. We took on that coordination as our only job, so everyone else can do theirs.
How we operate
Four principles that don’t flex, case to case.
Dignity in every handoff
The people moving a case never forget who they’re moving. Every handover — mortuary to mortuary, country to country — follows a fixed protocol, so nothing is rushed and nothing is guessed.
Timelines we can stand behind
We tell you what’s realistic, not what’s easiest to hear. If a country’s process takes nine days, we say nine days, and we explain why.
One coordinator, not a queue
You’re never re-explaining your case to a new voice. The person assigned on day one stays with it until handover.
Compliance without shortcuts
Every certificate, permit, and clearance goes through the proper authority. A case turned back at the border costs far more time than doing it right the first time.
How we’re structured
A coordination layer, not a fleet.
Meridian doesn’t own mortuaries, hearses, or aircraft. We maintain a vetted network of local partners in each country, and put one coordinator in charge of directing them as a single case.
Partners who know the jurisdiction
Funeral homes, translators, and customs brokers in each country, chosen because they already know that jurisdiction’s paperwork, language, and timelines.
One case file, one timeline
Every document, permit, and booking sits in a single case file, so nothing is duplicated and nothing falls into a gap between organizations.
One coordinator, not a support queue
The family speaks with the same person throughout — the one who assigned the case on day one is the one who confirms the handover at the end.
140+ countries. Vetted funeral home, consular, and customs-broker partners on both ends of nearly any route we’re asked to coordinate.
Who’s on a case
The roles behind every case file.
Each case is staffed by the same four functions, coordinated by a single point of contact.
Case Coordination
Your single point of contact, day or night, from first call to handover.
Consular & Documentation
Certificates, permits, and translations, filed with the correct authority in each country.
Mortuary & Clinical Standards
Oversight of preparation and container compliance against both countries’ requirements.
Customs & Carrier Relations
Export and import clearance, and booking with the airline or ground carrier.
